Introduction
Every optical system ideally contains an aperture, which therefore occupies a central place in your optomechanical processes.
While it is possible to buy standardized pinholes as COTS from standard suppliers, it is not possible to obtain all types and dimensions of aperture your project may require. The aperture creator application is there to fill this need and enables you to produce most types of apertures encountered in optical projects.
We currently propose the following aperture types:
- Regular apertures which are the backbone of optical systems;
- Darkfield apertures to control illumination by generating out-of-fields rays;
- L-Shaped apertures which can be used in some interferometric systems.
The application will generate CNC machine code for rapid prototyping of apertures through an intuitive user interface.
In the next sections, you will learn how to create an aperture, how to download the machine code, and we will conclude by presenting some machining setup recommendations to obtain best results with your apertures.
